This is a very fun, but also quite challenging experience. Be prepared to sweat and inch your way through the numorus stages, but don't let the difficulty discourage you. Finishing a stage feels fantastic and with each enemy beaten, you'll feel that much better as a VR Swordsman. The sword fighting mechanics are pretty solid, but certainly not 1:1 with real life. They're very close however. The animations give you a good window of prediction and the reactionary animations of the enemies are pretty realistic and don't feel canned.It's also worth adding that I have a smaller than average playspace and while I can get away with playing this, it can be difficult at times. If you have a small playspace, make sure to stand where you can swing with your arm extended all around you without hitting anything. If you can do that, you should be alright as long as you don't walk much. Just be careful because you can really get lost in this experience.. While playing this game, I broke my: -Monitor -Lamp -Mic -Chair -Cat -And my bones when I tripped over my chair and fell on the floor, face first...10\/10 would break again. You can ignore the usual "Awesome! So cool. I'm exhausted!" reviews from the Kool-Aid gulping wide eyed, fan boy types. They would have fun dancing around their bedrooms waving a toilet brush with a bucket on their heads shouting "Take that foul demon!"I gave this game the benefit of the doubt, watching the dev videos for a few months and reserving my opinion until trying it. Unfortunatley it plays just like it looks and it looks a little disjointed. I get the feeling these are store bought art assets. This results in a jarring mix in the quality of models, textures and animations so it feels more like a tech demo rather than a finished product.Regarding gameplay the enemy characters hover just outside the bounds of the chaperone which means of you are going to be swinging your controller full speed (as it requires you to do) at them. The potential for controller smashing and loved one assaulting is terrifyingly high. Games like "Thrill of the fight" handle this style of close quarters combat much better.A Vive labour of love that suffers from the problems of developing with limited outside input.Maybe following the "QuiVr" dev model of community testing through development would have helped iron out the gameplay kinks. It is however well priced and robustly coded, the art and more importantly gameplay on offer, are not to my taste.. I love swords in VR and went looking for a good swordfighting simulator. So far, I don't think Sword Master is one of those. I know the game is cheap, but still I've been kinda disappointed. The gameplay is simplistic and gets difficult in the wrong ways.I imagined this would be a game where you have to develop your swordfighting skills against enemies that are increasingly better at wielding their swords. Instead, Sword Master quickly gets more difficult by throwing more enemies at you at the same time, and those enemies get bigger and have bigger shields. That seems somewhat unfair, considering that you have to stand in the middle of two or three guys going at you. Fortunately, though, I learned that I could take down even a huge enemy by doing a repeated stabbing or twirling motion instead of finding the best place or time to strike a blow. The enemies don't seem to be able to defend themselves against simple mashing. Maybe that's why the game makes you fight more than one of them at the same time.So far I've played through almost all the Novice levels. Maybe the gameplay will change at some point. Just know that if you decide to play this, you might get frustrated early on. Graphics-wise, the game is not that pretty. The swords look cool but the player models are strange, with limbs that look deformed. Yeah, I know, only 10 bucks...but whatever.On the plus side, it's a decent workout. I think that this could potentially be a good game, if it encouraged the player to do some actual swordfighting against one (okay, maybe two) opponent at a time.. Pretty blown away at how fun this game is, as well as how you really do get a decent amount of cardio/work up a good sweat with this. I'll be honest, when I was reading reviews I scoffed at all of the "what a good workout" and "sweat simulator" comments. I'm a pretty in shape guy and figured these were most likely folks who don't do a whole lot of cardio.Firstly, I apologize to those folks I scoffed at. This♥♥♥♥♥♥really does makes you sweat if you get into it and play it like you're really fighting for your life. (Not standing still and poking under shields, which isn't remotely fun anyhow) I really got into it and when they throw more than two enemies at you, it's easy to get lost and start feeling like Aragorn or some other sword wielding badass. This game is an insane amount of fun for being so simple, and I don't mean that in a bad way. In this case, simple is good. The game may be simple, but the combat is anything but. They give you your sword (and shield if you so choose) and from there YOU get to decide just how dope you want to be with your fighting style. For me, I really can't help but start ducking, dodging, and really giving those miscellaneous armor bois what for. 10/10 would be cheered on by spooki skeletons again.. Very good. The game mechanics work nicely, a throughly entertaining game. It never seems to get boring, the pure thrill of swinging a sword about is enough to keep me happy for ages. Works smoothly and the controls are very simple. Can praise this highly enough..
